This chapter focuses primarily on sending mail messages with VMS MAIL and its equivalents: DECwindows MAIL, callable MAIL, Pathworks MAIL agents, PMDF MAIL, and Gold-Mail. Throughout this chapter, except where noted, the phrase "VMS MAIL" is used to refer to VMS MAIL and its equivalents. The notable exceptions to this occur when specific VMS MAIL commands such as EXTRACT, SEND, or SET FORWARD are discussed. Discussions concerning particular VMS MAIL commands are relevant only to VMS MAIL and PMDF MAIL. However, such topics as addressing formats are universal to all of these VMS MAIL equivalents.
